The Empire Theatre needs you...
We are always looking to increase the size of our volunteer team so that we can offer a bigger programme of events to our local community. In return volunteers will get to work with some fun people (we would say that!) and have a real influence on how the theatre is run and the shows, films and events we offer to our community.
We are especially keen to meet people who would like to be part of our Front of House team and we need PROJECTIONISTS, who are able to volunteer daytime as well as some evenings. These roles are the face of the theatre that meet, greet and support our customers at each event as well as sell tickets, drinks and sweets processing transactions through our cash register as cash, debit or credit card transactions, the projectionists are key players in controlling the film and ensuring all films are screened to their best, all training will given. We are a friendly bunch and whilst everyone pitches in to do whatever needs doing we would not want you to commit to working every ‘shift’ however we do ask you to commit to giving a reasonable level of support each month i.e. 2 or 3 events per month (or more if you can spare the time).
Volunteering is not just for those at the end of their career, all our roles offer unique opportunities for college or university students/leavers to develop transferable skills and get some real world work experience that may support their CVs or future work ambitions. We are not looking necessarily for detailed experience just some ability and bags of enthusiasm. As our organisation chart shows, no-one has to work alone; members of the Executive Committee will work with any ‘specialists’ to ensure the developed processes and policies remain aligned with our values. We are looking for a minimum of 6 months commitment from anyone wishing to fill one of our specialist roles given the time it will take for these positions to have an impact on our operation.
